2021 Rogers Scholar Katherine “Katie Beth” Smith organized a community food drive at Durham’s Grocery to restock Blessing Boxes in Lincoln County. Blessing Boxes are located throughout the county and stocked with non-perishable food items to provide for those in need. Katie Beth, a student at Lincoln County High School, said, “I love helping others in my community” and is grateful “to my community and Durham’s Grocery for assisting me in being able to pay it forward.” Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project.
